… but for those suffering from non-significant, chronic lower back pain, it can help ease the pain and discomfort.
As with anything that FLF tells you, it is not just coming from us. Research and peer-reviewed studies have studied the benefits of Pilates for lower back pain. And whilst there is still more that can be researched, there is an overarching agreement that doing Pilates for 45-60 minutes twice a week will help with those pesky aches and pains.
Pilates focuses on centring, concentration, control, precision, breathing, flow, and body posture alignment. And although no two people have the same body posture, we always work to establish a neutral position of the head, shoulders and pelvic girdle whilst maintaining our natural spine curvature. But it doesn’t stop there! Pilates also makes us aware of how we position our limbs and load through our feet in a standing position.
Research tells us that a single isolated 60-min Pilates exercise can improve the mood of sedentary women, and once-a-week Pilates training can improve body awareness, muscle mass, balance, flexibility, and core and abdominal muscle strength after only 6-8 weeks!

Hi, I’m Naomi,
My fitness journey began at a young age through my love for dancing. I trained at London University as a dancer and it is during this time that I began my Pilates instructor course.
I have been teaching Pilates for 10 years now, not only in the UK but also in Australia and New Zealand. After my travels, I trained as a primary school teacher and have worked in education for the past 4 years in Pembrokeshire.
Since living in Pembrokeshire, I have found the world of triathlon and swimming, running and cycling have now become part of my daily routine! I have taken part in various events, one of which includes a half ironman.
6 months ago, I had a little girl called Gracie-Lou. I love spending time outdoors with her, going on walks and exploring the coastal paths. I hope she will learn to love the outdoors as much as I do.
I am looking forward to sharing my knowledge in this course with you all, and I hope you will find Pilates as beneficial to your everyday life as I am!
